Film

For the last six years I have been growing in the costume department within the film industry. I started out as a production assistant then worked up to costumer. Ever since then I have been steadily improving my skill set with each show. Working in costumes has taught my a lot about the proper fit of clothing and what the magic of tailoring or secret tricks can really do.

Saturday Night

Movie, Network: Netflix

Set Background Costumer: Filming Saturday Night was so much fun. Between the crew and the core background actors, it truly was a memorable experience. I was in charge of keeping the costumes and continuity in perfect shape for all background actors seen on screen. This movie shows a behind the scenes look at the hour and a half leading up to the first SNL episode in 1975. I learned so much and will never forget the day we had "speciality acts", those costumes were challenging yet very fun. Dealing with period clothing is interesting because you usually do not have multiples of them so you need to be careful with how you treat the garments and accessories. Balloon girl is hands down my new favorite costume.

Descendants: Rise of Red

Movie, Network: Disney+

Costumer: This was the first time I got to be more involved in fabricating parts of the costumes. In the photos below, I bedazzled Cinderella's shoes (played by Brandy), added beading to Chloe Charming's quilted jackets, and added jewels/beading to Queen of Hearts (played by Rita Ora) red and pink crowns. I also had the pleasure of completing a promotional photoshoot for multiple characters as well as styling some background characters.

True Lies

Season 1, Network: CBS

Swing Set Costumer: This show provided me with the experience of bouncing between dressing and keeping the continuity of the background actors to being with stunts and

Doom Patrol

Season 4, Network: Max

Supersuit Set Costumer

Robotman

I learned to build Robotman piece by piece. He starts out with base layers and we build up from there with knees, gauntlets, gloves, jacket and finally helmet. The face plate is placed on last right before we roll.

If a piece of his costume broke I was responsible for fixing it. I screwed fingers back into gloves. I could control the brightness of eyes as well depending on the brightness of the set.

For Robotman's cowboy costume, I fabricated a bolo tie out of gears. The exposed brain was fun because I got to switch it out between the helmets and apply a brain goo each time.

Negative Man

Negative Man is a bit less complicated than Robotman. He consists of a green sweater, pants, lace up boots, suspenders, jacket, bandaged mask + gloves, and then finally ending with googles.

To keep his costume tidy, sometimes we would clip the frayed edges or use fray glue.

Cyborg

Learning the parts to Cyborg were really fun and interesting. He had a couple of different costumes this season. Depending on the storyline he was either from the future, present, past, or turned into a teenager.

The Staircase

Season 1, Network: Max

Swing Set Costumer: During this project I floated between helping dress the background, assist the truck costumer and principle cast set team. This show was particularly fun because it stretched between a couple of different time periods, from the 90's to the mid 2000's.
